The last Club Wino (as Cardinal Wino, at least), was a tip top affair. Dr Millar showed up with minutes to spare and put in a wonderful set. Tony Black and the Collectors brought their Japanese fan club and the usual bag of fantastic tunes.
We delivered a breakneck set of this lot: The Pariah/Burying You/What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace Love and Understanding*/Every Day and Every Night/Magnificent/Good Lovin’*/Country Tune/Someone Else’s Fault/Absolutely Sweet Marie*/Don’t Tell Me/Set Me Free/Take Me Home/Break My Fall/Dead Flowers*/Burning Love*/Lonesome Now You’re Gone. And that’s it. We ended with a bang, we think.
There’ll be some evidence on YouTube in the fullness of time, and some kind of follow up band with most of us, but for the time being… goodbye. We’ve been Cardinal Wino. Goodnight and God bless.
